Cats Slip Past Oregon State, 2-1

TUCSON-- Jennie Finch earned a victory in relief and provided one ofArizona's runs with her 15th home run of the season to help leadsecond-ranked UA past No. 16 Oregon State, 2-1, in college softball beforea crowd of 2,171 Sunday afternoon.
Finch (26-2) led off the fourth inning with a home run to deep left togive Arizona a 1-0 lead. It was only the second hit off Oregon Statepitcher Crystal Draper (12-5) to that point in the game, and Arizonamanaged only three more the rest of the way.
Draper and UA's Jenny Gladding were both effective through the early partof the game. Gladding allowed only two hits and one runner to reach secondbase, while Draper had given up only a single and allowed one runner toreach scoring position before Finch's blast.
Oregon State came right back and tied the game with an RBI double by ClareBurnum, who drove in Jenni Jodoin. A walk, error and fielder's choice setup the RBI. The run chased UA starter Gladding, and Finch came on inrelief, getting a strikeout and fly ball to end the rally.
Lovie Jung singled with two outs in the bottom of the fifth, stole secondand scored on a single by Courtney Fossatti to regain the lead for UA.
Finch struck out four in two and two-thirds innings and allowed one hit.Oregon State fell to 35-18 overall and 6-9 in Pac-10 play. The Wildcatsimproved to 44-7 and 11-3.
