OJAI, Calif. - The Washington doubles team of sophomore Erin Hoe and senior Ilona Kordonskaya lost Sunday in the finals of the invitational doubles bracket during the last day of the Pac-10 women's tennis championships at the Ojai Valley Tennis Club.
The Stanford team of Emilia Anderson and Story Tweedie-Yates won the invitational doubles title, overcoming Hoe and Kordonskaya by a score of 9-8.
The Husky duo dispatched Washington State's Nora Gaal and Zorana Roganovic by an 8-1 tally in Saturday's semifinals. Hoe and Kordonskaya opened the four-day tournament with an 8-2 triumph over California's Carla Arguelles and Catherine Lynch before registering an 8-3 quarterfinal win over Arizona State's Lauren Colalillo and Megan Yeats.
Hoe, a sophomore from Mililani, Hawai'i, was making her second straight appearance in the Pac-10 invitational doubles final. In 2001, she and Husky teammate Erin Boisclair finished as runners-up to a duo from California.
Stanford's 10th-ranked Gabriela Lastra won the Pac-10 women's singles championship with a 6-3, 6-3 decision over No. 7 Jewel Peterson of USC.
In the main doubles draw, California's Christina Fusano and Raquel Kops-Jones upset the ninth-ranked Arizona tandem of Debbie Larocque and Maja Mlakar 8-6 to claim the conference crown.
The invitational singles title was won by USC's Tiffany Brymer. She posted a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Nicole Havlicek of California.
The 21st-ranked Washington women are expected to receive a bid to the 64-team NCAA championships that begin May 10. The tournament field will be announced on Thursday.
