UCLA Women's T & Field Signings

UCLA women's head track & field coach Jeanette Bolden has announcedtwo National Letter of Intent signings for athletes who will be freshmenfor the Bruin women next season in track and field.

The athletes are:

Sarah West, Davis, CA HS - During the 2002 prep indoor season, her10:46.50i in the 3200m was No. 5 in the State.

Chelsea Johnson, Atascadero, CA HS - At the Mt. SAC Relays, Johnsonwon the prep women's pole vault with a mark of 13-4, a meet record and thesecond-highest outdoor mark by a high school woman. Also at Mt. SAC, sheplaced sixth in the invitational prep race of the 100m high hurdles(15.05). A hurdler before taking up the pole vault last December, Johnsonwon the 300m low hurdles last season at the Southern Section Div. IIIChampionships. Johnson is also an All-Area soccer and volleyball performer.Her father, Jan, was the 1971 U. S. Outdoor pole vault champion and heearned a Bronze Medal in the event at the 1972 Olympics.
