Wildcat Soccer Receives Another Commitment
May 1, 2002
TUCSON, Ariz. (May 1) - Another Tucsonan has committed to join the University of Arizona women's soccer team for the 2002-03 school year. Catalina Foothills High School product SHANNON PIDD will become a Wildcat this fall.
A three-year letterwinner in both soccer and track at Foothills, Pidd was a three-time All-Arizona and All-Southern Arizona selection, despite missing her junior year with an ACL injury. As a defender, Pidd was part of a Falcon defense that surrendered only six goals in 24 games her senior year. The squad went 21-2-1 overall and lost in the state finals game that season. Also a track and field standout, Pidd was part of a 4x100-meter relay that was three-time Southern Region champion. She collected several academic honors, as well, and will be attending the UA on Spirit of Discovery and Provost Scholarships.
Pidd brings the 2002 Wildcat recruiting class up to a total of 10 student-athletes. Check the official Arizona Athletics web site, www.arizonaathletics.com, for more information on the previous signees.
