Cougar Men's Basketball Adds Another Big Man
May 2, 2002
PULLMAN, Wash. -- Ezenwa Ukeagu from Palm Beach College in Lake Worth, Fla., will transfer to Washington State and play men's basketball next fall, WSU Head Coach Paul Graham announced Thursday.
Ukeagu, a 6-foot-8, 255-pound forward/center, averaged 13 point and 11 rebounds last season for the Panthers and was named All-Southern Conference. The Coral Springs, Fla., native shot 68-percent from the field.
'Ezenwa is another person who will help fulfill our weakness on the interior,' Graham said. 'He goes along with Justin Bellegarde and Justin Kordsmeier to give us a physical presence on the inside and replace J Locklier. He will compliment returning players Milton Riley, Shami Gill and Pawel Stasiak.'
Ukeagu spent his freshman season (1999-2000) at Division I Binghamton where he averaged 8.2 points and a team-leading 6.9 rebounds.
Palm Beach Head Coach Steve Bernath added, 'Ezenwa has great hands and knows how to use his big body around the paint. Those skills will help him tremendously in the Pac-10.'
