WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- In a vote by the Conference coaches, STANFORD's K.J. Hippensteel has been named the Pacific-10 Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Year, while Cardinal Gabriela Lastra was named Pac-10 Women's Tennis Player of the Year.

UCLA took top doubles honors as Jean-Julien Rojer and Marcin Matkowski were named Men's Doubles Team of the Year, while Stanford's Lastra and Lauren Kalvaria were named Women's Doubles Team of the Year.

WASHINGTON's Alex Vlaski earned the Freshman of the Year honors on the men's side, while UCLA's Megan Bradley was named Women's Freshman of the Year.

On the coaching side, USC's Richard Leach was named Men's Coach of the Year, while WASHINGTON STATE's Cari Groce was selected as Women's Coach of the Year.

Hippensteel, a senior from Roanoke, Va., is currently ranked as the No. 2 singles player in the nation and posted a 15-4 dual record this season. Lastra, a senior from Reno, Nev., is ranked No. 6 in the nation. She recently won the singles title at the Pac-10 Championships, defeating USC's Jewel Peterson. This season she went 18-3 in dual matches.

UCLA's tandem of Rojer and Matkowski defeated Stanford's Scott Lipsky and David Martin, 9-7, to win the Pac-10 doubles title in Ojai, Calif. They are the No. 1 duo in the nation. Rojer, a junior from Curacao, Netherlands-Antilles, and Matkowski, a sophomore from Szczecin, Poland, have a 34-7 record. Lastra and Kalvaria did not compete at this season's Pac-10 Championships. The Cardinal duo is the country's top doubles team and posted a 24-2 record this year. Kalvaria is a senior from Indialantic, Fla.

Vlaski, from Belgrade, Yugoslavia, went 15-5 in matches this season and is ranked No. 29. He was the first Husky to ever make it to the singles final at the Pac-10 Championships. He finished runner-up to UCLA's Rodrigo Grilli. Bradley, from Columbia, Mo., is the No. 3 ranked singles player in the country. Her record this season in singles matches was 27-6. She did not compete in the singles rounds at the Pac-10 Championships, but did make it to the doubles final with teammate Lauren Fisher. They fell 8-6 to California's duo of Christina Fusano and Raquel Kops-Jones.

Leach has guided USC to a 19-5 record this season and tie for second place in the Pac-10 standings. The Trojans are ranked No. 11. This is his fifth Coach of the Year award. After 23 seasons at the helm of Trojan tennis, Leach has announced his retirement effective at the end of the season. During his time at USC he led the Trojans to three NCAA titles, seven Conference championships and a 529-133 (.799) overall record. Groce led the Cougars to an 11-10 record and seventh place Pac-10 finish. WSU is ranked No. 27 in the nation. This is Groce's fourth Pac-10 Coach of the Year award.
