Sarah Beeson and Robin Walker Named Academic All-District VII

STANFORD, Calif. - Two Stanford softball players- serniors Sarah Beeson (Tucson, Ariz.) and Robin Walker (La Palma, Calif.)- have been selected to the 2002 Women's University Division Verizon Academic All-District VII Softball team as selected by CoSIDA.
Beeson, the starting first baseman for the Cardinal, has a 3.70 GPA and is majoring in human biology. The two-time All American is having another stellar season, hitting .384 and tied for second for the team lead with 44 RBI. She has started 56 of the 58 games this year at first base and has hit five home runs. She was recently invited to participate in USA Softball team camp, May 30-June 3 to compete for a spot to represent the U.S. this summer in international competition. Beeson was named to the First Team.
Walker, Stanford's starting shortstop, has a 3.20 GPA and is majoring in history. Walker, a two-time Academic All Pac-10 selection, was awarded Second Team honors. She has been impressive in her final season on The Farm, hitting at a .285 clip with 49 runs scored, 17 doubles and three home runs. Walker is one of just three Cardinal athletes to start every game this season.
To be eligible for consideration for the team a student-athlete must carry a GPA of 3.2 or higher (on a 4.0 scale), must be in at least his second year of participation at the school and an important squad contributor.
