Arizona Heptathlete Finishes Ninth at Pac-10 Combined Championships

PULLMAN, Wash. - The University of Arizona's Amanda Underwood finished ninth in the heptathlon at the Pac-10 Combined Championships in Pullman, Wash. on Sunday. Underwood completed the seven events with a total of 4,230 points. Ellanne Richardson of Washington State won the overall competition with 5,821 points.
Underwood finished tenth in the long jump with a leap of 15-4 (4.67m). In the javelin throw, she was sixth with a throw of 96-6 (29.41m). She also finished ninth in the 800m with a time of 2:37.26.
After the men's decathlon and women's heptathlon, only five teams will have points going into next weekend's Pac-10 Championships. Washington State leads the women's competition with 16 points, while Oregon and Southern California are tied with 14 points on the men's side.
The rest of UA's men's and women's track and field teams will be back in action next weekend at the Pac-10 Conference Championships that run from Saturday, May 18 through Sunday, May 19. The meet will again be held at Washington State.
