Washington State Star Earns Academic Honor

PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State tennis senior Erica Perkins (Seattle) was named Verizon Academic All-District VIII Women's At-Large First Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), Thursday.

The at-large category includes student-athletes from fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, rowing, skiing, swimming, tennis and water polo.

Schools in the states of Alaska, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington as well as British Columbia, Canada make up District VIII. Perkins is eligible for All-America status. National honors will be announced June 13. A student-athlete must have a minimum of a 3.20 cumulative grade point average to be eligible for selection.

This is the second Verizon award for Perkins who gathered second team honors in 2001. She is a 4.00 graduate student in education administration after graduating with a degree in history and a 3.92 undergraduate GPA.
