Three Softball Players Named To Region 6 All-Tournament Team

SEATTLE - Three Washington softball players, Jaime Clark (Tustin, Calif.), Amanda Oleson (Agoura Hills, Calif.) and Becky Simpson (Tumwater, Wash.), earned all-tournament honors after leading the Huskies to a third-place finish at the NCAA Region 6 Tournament in Ann Arbor, Mich, May 16-19. Clark and Oleson both were name to the all-tournament team for the second straight year, while it is the first such honor for Simpson, the UW's lone senior in 2002.
Clark hit .538 (7-for-13) in four games, leading the tournament field with seven RBI, while tying for the lead in runs scored (5), home runs (2) and total bases (13). Oleson, who accounted for the team's only run in the season-ending 2-1 loss to Ohio State, batted .385 (5-for-13) with three runs scored, two doubles and was one of just three players to reach double-figures in total bases with 10.
Simpson, meanwhile, was second on the team in batting in the four games, hitting .467 (7-for-15) with five runs scored. The senior outfielder was 2-for-4 against the Buckeyes in her final game as a Husky.
Michigan, which advanced to the College World Series with a 4-0 win over Ohio State on Sunday, had five players named to the all-tournament team, including most valuable player Kelsey Kollen, who led the field with a .615 batting average.
Washington finished its season with a 46-18 record overall and earned its ninth straight NCAA Tournament bid.
