Lauren Kalvaria Named Academic All-District VII Selection

STANFORD, Calif. - Senior Lauren Kalvaria, a member of Stanford's women's tennis team, has been announced as a selection to the 2002 Verizon Academic All-District VII Women's At-Large Team. Kalvaria is one of 10 other female athletes named to the Second Team.
The Academic All-District VII Women's At-Large First, Second and Third teams, as selected by CoSIDA, feature 30 female student-athletes representing 20 different NCAA Division 1 institutions. The at-large category includes student-athletes in the following women's sports: crew, gymnastics, skiing, fencing, ice hockey, swimming, water polo, field hockey, lacrosse, tennis, golf and rifle.
Lauren Kalvaria (Indialantic, Fla.) has been one of the Stanford's most consistent singles and doubles players this season. Kalvaria is the No.4-ranked singles player in the country and teams with fellow senior Gabriela Lastra to make up the No. 1 doubles squad in the nation. The Cardinal senior holds a 3.36 GPA in economics.
In order to be eligible for Academic All-America honors, a student-athlete must have a 3.20 cummulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), must be a starter or an important reserve and be in at least their second season at their current school.
In addition, Stanford's Tara Kirk (swimming) was also named to the Second Team, while Jackie Frank (water polo) was a Third Team selection.
