USC Rowing Advances To NCAA Petite Final

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The USC Varsity Eight boat, after qualifying for the semifinals in dramatic fashion on Friday, finished fourth in Saturday's race to advance to the Petite Final of the 2002 NCAA Championships at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis.

Final races, including the Grand Final for places 1 through 6 and the Petite Final for places 7 through 12, will take places on Sunday, June 2. USC will race at 11:30 a.m. EST and will compete against Harvard, Michigan, Virginia, Yale and Syracuse.

The top three finishers of each of Saturday's semifinal races - Washington, Cal, Ohio State, Brown Princeton, Stanford -- advance to the Grand Final. The Trojans missed the cut by just two seconds as they crossed the line in 6:59.07, trailing Brown (6:53.65), Princeton (6:54.00) and Stanford (6:57.03).
