Corvallis, Ore. - The Oregon State University football team has been ranked No. 25 in The Sporting News preseason football poll, released June 3. The Beavers are one of five Pacific-10 Conference programs to be included in the rankings.
Forty-six lettermen return from last year's 5-6 club, including 17 starters. Oregon State's quest to return to postseason begins Thurs., Aug. 29 at Reser Stadium against Eastern Kentucky. The 12-game regular season schedule also includes home dates with UNLV, Fresno State, UCLA, California, Arizona, and Oregon.
The four other conference schools in the top-25 include No. 6 Washington State, No. 12 Washington, No. 18 Southern California, and No. 20 Oregon. The Southeastern and Big Ten Conferences also feature five schools in the top-25.
The publication also selected Beaver senior cornerback Dennis Weathersby to its preseason All-America Team. Weathersby was selected to TSN's All-America second team following last season. The three-time Pac-10 All-Academic selection shares the OSU record with 44 career pass deflections.

Defensive end Terrell Suggs of Arizona State, strong safety Troy Polamalu of USC, kick returner Luke Powell of Stanford, and offensive linemen Mike Saffer of UCLA and Derrick Roche of Washington State were second team recipients.
