2001-02 Men's Basketball Schedule Ranked In The Top 10

June 12, 2002

PULLMAN, Wash. -- Gordon Wise of Basketball Times ranked the Washington State men's basketball schedule for 2001-02 as the ninth toughest in the country.

As a conference, the Pacific-10 was ranked as the most difficult in the country. Arizona (No. 1), UCLA (No. 3), Washington (No. 8) and the Cougars all ranked in the top 10 nationally.

Three other Pac-10 schools, Stanford (No. 12), USC (No. 19) and Arizona State (No. 20), ranked in the top 20 nationally.

Despite the tough schedule, WSU did have some outstanding individual performances.

Marcus Moore's 4.85 assists per game (fifth), 131 assists (sixth) and 55 steals (tied for eighth) all rank in the top 10 on WSU's single season list.

Mike Bush closed his basketball career with 149 steals to rank fourth and 1,061 points, good enough for 19th on Cougar career lists.

Milton Riley raised his career block total to 57, ranking eighth all-time at WSU.

J Locklier recorded 40 points, March 2 against Centenary in his final game as a Cougar. The point total is the fifth highest single game effort in WSU history.

WSU's 2000-1 schedule was ranked 40th by Basketball Times.
