Ducks Announce Football's September TV Schedule
The University of Oregon will open its 2002 football season with its first two games of the year televised live to a national cable audience by Fox Sports Net, according to the early-season television schedule released by the Pacific-10 Conference office.
The Ducks' Aug. 31 season opener vs. Mississippi State in the newly expanded Autzen Stadium will kick off the season at 3 p.m. (PDT), opening a slate of eight home games. That will be followed the next week by the Oregon-Fresno State game at 12:30 p.m. (PDT), with both games televised as part of the conference's 32-game television package which encompasses ABC Sports, Fox Sports Net and TBS Superstation.
An additional number of non-conference games involving Pac-10 Conference institutions on the road may be aired by other national television networks not affiliated with the Pac-10. Individual schools also may televise their own games over local entities as long as they don't air in the same time slots as one of the Pac-10's television partner's games.
Oregon is certain to have more than the two previously announced games televised live as the season progresses, with the conference's television partners able to choose from games played in October and November six or 12 days prior to the scheduled games. In addition, the Oregon Sports Network could choose to televise the Ducks' games statewide that are not aired by one of the Pac-10's three national television partners and are not played at the same time as one of the league's TV contracted contests.
The Ducks have had a minimum of seven of their 11 regular-season games televised in each of the last three years.
