Josh Arhart, Wade Clark Sign Free Agent Contracts

Los Angeles - Catcher Josh Arhart (Tustin, CA/Foothill HS/Saddleback JC) and righthanded pitcher Wade Clark (Los Olivos, CA/Santa Ynez Union Valley HS) signed free agent contracts last week. Arhart signed with the Tamba Bay Devil Rays, while Clark signed with Detroit Tigers. Arhart finished his senior year in 2002, while Clark, a redshirt junior, was a free agent after going undrafted in the 2002 draft. Clark has been assigned to the Oneonta Tigers of the New York-Penn League.
Arhart was among UCLA's top hitters in 2002, batting .363 with a team-leading 18 doubles and seven home runs. Arhart's batting average was ninth in the Pac-10, and his 18 doubles ranked fifth. He hit 10 doubles in Pac-10 play to lead the league. He earned honorable mention All-Pac-10 honors in 2002. After transferring from Saddleback JC in 2001, Arhart started 35 games at catcher, hitting .292 with seven doubles and three home runs.
Clark finished up his redshirt junior season in 2002. He appeared in 17 games, and finished with a 9.12 ERA. He had an 0-3 record and pitched 25.2 innings. As a redshirt sophomore in 2001, he had a 5.25 ERA and a 2-1 record. He recorded 25 strikeouts in 36.0 innings pitched. Clark appeared in 40 games during his UCLA career, finishing with a 6.88 ERA and a 2-4 record in 69.1 innings.
