Two Men's Rowers At National Camps

CORVALLIS, Ore. - -
A pair of Oregon State men's rowers are competing at two selection camps for the right to represent the United States this summer in international championships, OSU coach Dave Reischman announced Monday.
Josh Inman, a senior from Hillsboro, Ore., is currently rowing at the four-week Nations Cup Camp in Madison, Wisc. Junior teammate Nick Scholz, from Springfield, Ore., is competing at the New York Athletic Club at the selection camp for the Lightweight Senior World Championships.
Inman was a three-year letterwinner in the varsity eight at OSU, while Scholz earned his first letter as a member of the varsity eight this year. Both helped OSU to its best finish in school history when the Beavers captured fourth-place at the IRA Championships on June 1.
If selected, Inman will row in either the U.S. Heavyweight Eight or Pair at the Nations Cup in Italy in late July. Scholz would row in Seville, Spain at the Lightweight Men's Eight Senior World Championships in August, if selected.
'These kids have a chance to do something special,' OSU coach Dave Reischman said. 'Both were a huge part of our success this year along with all the other rowers. I think this is a just reward for all their hard work and effort.
'For Josh, this is a chance to see how he fits into the national picture, much like Joey Hansen did last year. For Nick, this will give him some great experience that he can bring back to the program for next year.'
Joey Hansen was the last OSU rower to compete on an international scale, helping the U.S. National Team to fourth at the World Championships last summer after completing his eligibility in 2001.
