CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State outfielder Aaron Mathews has been named Freshman All-America honorable mention by Collegiate Baseball newspaper. Mathews (John Day, Ore./Grant Union HS) had already earned honorable mention when the All-Pacific-10 Conference team was announced in late May.

Mathews batted .338 with two home runs, three triples, five doubles, 26 runs batted in and 10 stolen bases. He had 14 multi-hit games and 8 multi-RBI games during the season, and had a hit in 30 of 39 games in which he batted.

Mathews also covered an enormous amount of ground in centerfield, making several spectacular catches, and threw out four baserunners from the outfield.
