Rowing Has Four Named 2002 Pac-10 All-Academic

Walnut Creek, Calif. - Four student-athletes on the USC women's rowing team were named to the Pacific-10 Conference All-Academic Team for their achievements in the classroom, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced Thursday, June 20. To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant substitute.
Three Women of Troy were named to the first team; senior port Ivelina Boteva (3.14, psychology), junior starboard Marketa Vochoskova (3.38, German language) and sophomore coxswain Melissa Zimel (3.59, kinesiology). In addition, junior starboard Zoï¿½ Hoskins (3.01 journalism) garnered honorable mention accolades.
This is the second-consecutive Pac-10 All-Academic honor for Boteva and the first for Vochoskova, Zimel and Hoskins. This season, Zimel has also been named a 2002 CRCA West Region Scholar-Athlete.
