Five OSU Golfers Earn Pac-10 All-Academic Recognition

Five Oregon State golfers were among the men's and women's Academic All-Pacific-10 Conference honorees when the teams were announced Thursday afternoon.
Michael Jurgensen led the way with his first-team selection, while brothers Sean and Todd Deacon were tabbed for the second-team. Chance Holmes received honorable mention to round out the honorees from the men's squad, while Ashlei Pendleton represented the women's squad with an honorable mention.
Jurgensen finished the year with five top-20 finishes to go along with a 3.41 GPA as a Business major. Jurgensen was second on the team on the team in scoring average as a junior, posting a 74.03 mark.
Sean Deacon, a sophomore majoring in Business, maintained the highest GPA on the men's team with a 3.84 while posting a 74.40 scoring average and winning the Northwest Collegiate Classic with a school record 205. Deacon was an honorable mention academic all-conference pick last year.
Todd, the older brother of Sean, garnered second-team accolades with his 3.27 in Business Administration. The elder Deacon's season was highlighted by a tie for 19th at the Pac-10 Championships. He was also a member of last year's academic second-team.
Holmes, a junior, earned his first career selection with his honorable mention. The Liberal Studies major played in a career-high eight tournaments this year.
Pendleton earned honorable mention while leading the team in scoring with a 77.7 mark. It was her first recognition by the Pac-10.
