Two Former Trojans Earn Spot In Baseball's All-Star Game

LOS ANGELES -- Former USC pitchers Randy Johnson and Barry Zito were named Sunday as participants in the 2002 All-Star Game on July 9 in Milwaukee.
Johnson, making his ninth All-Star appearance, is 12-2 this season for the defending world champion Arizona Diamondbacks with a 2.38 ERA. In 17 starts, Johnson has thrown 124 2/3 innings and has allowed 97 hits with 155 strikeouts and 33 walks.
Zito is making his first All-Star appearance as a member of the Oakland Athletics. In 105 2/3 innings this season, Zito is 10-3 with a 3.58 ERA. He has allowed 91 hits with 36 walks and 96 strikeouts.
USC now claims 58 All-Star Game appearances in its program's history.
