UCLA Sends Three Athletes To World Junior T & F Championships

UCLA will send three athletes - redshirt freshman JeremySilverman (SP), freshman Monique Henderson (400m) and freshman BrionaReynolds (SP) - to the 2002 World Junior Track & Field Championships,held July 16-21 at Kingston, Jamaica.

All three athletes qualified for the World Juniors three weeksago at the 2002 USA Junior meet (between the ages of 14-19 in thecalendar year 2002), held at Stanford (June 21-23). The top twofinishers in each event advanced to the upcoming World JuniorChampionships and will compete for the USA squad.

Bruin Men
Silverman, from Annville, PA (Annville-Cleona HS), at the USAJunior meet placed second in the shot put (63-5) and seventh in thediscus (178-6). A true freshman this season, Silverman redshirted duringthe 2001-02 campaign. As a senior prepster in 2000-01, his high schoolbest shot put mark of 65-4.50 was No. 4 on the U. S. high school chart.
