Arizona's Shields Wins Shot Put At International Juniors Meet

Arizona sophomore-to-be Sean Shields won the shot put at the Texaco TopAthletes Pre-Meet in Nassau, Bahamas, which featured the top Juniorscompetition from the United States, Cuba, Australia and the Bahamas.

Shields, who won the shot put at the U.S. Junior Championships in June, hada winning toss of 67-feet, 9-inches (20.65m) on Friday at this meet.

He also finished second in Saturday's discus competition behind only U.S.teammate Michael Robertson.

Shields and the rest of the U.S. Juniors team will compete at the IAAFJunior World Championships July 16-21, 2002, in Kingston, Jamaica.
