Chris Nallen Shoots a 68; Helps Team USA Remain in the Lead
July 18, 2002
GLENVIEW, Ill. - The University of Arizona's Chris Nallen shot a four-under-par 68 Thursday to help Team USA remain in the lead of the Fuji Xerox USA vs. Japan Collegiate Golf Championships at The Glen Club.
Team USA, which jumped to an early 9-3 lead in yesterday's first round, was humbled Thursday as it could only muster victories in five of the 12 singles matches (5-6-1). Through two days of competition, Team USA leads Japan, 20-16.
Arizona's Chris Nallen was one of the American bright spots, as he carded a four-under-par 68 to claim a one-stroke win over Japan's Kiyota Taichiro. The win improved Nallen's record to 2-0 in the competition and is one of just three Team USA members to shoot below par in each of the first two days
Play continues through Friday at The Glen Club, a par 72 facility. Final round singles matches begin Friday at 7:30 a.m. CDT.
