USC's Fusaro Qualifies For 2002 U.S. Diving Team

July 25, 2002

USC junior All-American Nicci Fusaro tied for third on the 1-meter springboard at the 2002 U.S. National Diving Championships in Dallas on Wednesday (July 24).

The third place finish was good enough for Fusaro to secure a spot on the 2002 U.S. national team.

Fusaro finished with 253.29 points, tied with Holly Hodges, behind winner Rachelle Kunkel and second-place Sara Reiling.

Fusaro reached the finals of all three diving specialties at the 2002 NCAA Championships, becoming one of only two Trojans ever to accomplish the feat. The other was teammate Blythe Hartley.

The platform competition is Thursday and Saturday. Fusaro did not get past the quarterfinals of the 3-meter.
