Three Men's Golfers Qualify For U.S. Amateur

Ben Flam earned medalist honors and was joined by Sun Devil teammates Chez Reavie and Jesse Mueller as sectional qualifiers for the 2002 U.S. Amateur, which will held Aug. 19-25 at Oakland Hills in Dearborn, Mich.

Flam shot a par-70 on Tuesday to finish at 3-under 137 (67-70) at Seville Golf and Country Club in Gilbert, while Reavie, the 2001 U.S. Public Links Champion, was two shots back at 1-under 139 (70-69). Mueller, the 2001 Arizona Amateur champion, advanced in a sectional qualifer in Las Vegas.

Arizona State has had three U.S. Amateur Champions, as Jeff Quinney (2000), Phil Mickelson (1990) and Billy Mayfair (1987) all won the event.
