Gabrielle Rose Wins Silver In 200 Meter Individual Medley At Pan Pac's

Yokohama, Japan - Former Stanford swimmer Gabrielle Rose captured the silver medal in the 200 meter individual medley Monday at the 2002 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships at the Yokohama International Swimming Pool.
Rose clocked in at 2:13.93 for her second place finish, while Japan's Tomoko Hagiwara (2:13.42) won the event.
Former Stanford swimmer Jenny Thompson qualified third for Tuesday's 50 meter freestyle by recording a time of 25.49 in the semifinals of the event on Monday. Thompson also swam a 25.44 in her heat of the event earlier in the day.
American and current California swimmer Natalie Coughlin just missed breaking her own world record in winning the 100 meter backstroke in 59.72. Coughlin, who set the 100 meter backstroke world record earlier this month with a 59.58 mark at the U.S. Nationals, won her second gold medal of the 2002 Pan Pac's.
