Volleyball Defeats San Diego State 3-0

HONOLULU, HI -- The University of Washington volleyball team continued its winning ways this evening with a 3-0 victory over San Diego State University in day one of the Eighth Aston Imua Wahine Volleyball Challenge.
Senior Paige Benjamin (Redmond, Wash.) paced the Husky offense with a career-high 23 kills. Sophomore Sanja Tomasevic (Uzice, Yugoslavia) also posted double-figure kills for the fourth consecutive match, chipping in 11. Washington hit .306 led by Benjamin (.400) and junior Kara Bjorklund (Olympia, Wash.) (.389).
Washington's defense successfully held the Aztec (2-2) offense to a .170 hitting percentage. Freshman Candace Lee (Eugene, Ore.) recorded 10 digs in the UW victory, while Tomasevic added eight.
The Huskies continue tournament play tomorrow with a 7:00 p.m. (EST) match up against the University of San Francisco.
