NBA Exhibition Action Returns to Gill Coliseum

Corvallis, Ore. - National Basketball Association rivals Portland and Seattle are scheduled to play an exhibition game at Oregon State University's Gill Coliseum, Wed., Oct. 16. Tickets are available now at the OSU Athletic Ticket Office in Gill or by calling 1-800-GO-BEAVS.
The game is the fifth of seven exhibition contests for the Blazers, and will feature the return of former Beaver standouts Gary Payton and Brent Barry for the Sonics. Since leaving Oregon State as the most decorated player in school history, Payton has enjoyed a highly successful 12-year career with Seattle. He has been selected to the NBA All-Star team seven times, earned first team All-NBA twice, and has won two gold medals in the Olympic Games.
Barry, who finished his career at OSU in 1995, was a first round draft selection of the Denver Nuggets. He was traded from Nuggets without ever playing for the franchise, and began his professional career with the Los Angeles Clippers. Barry is in his fourth season with the Sonics, and is coming off his best professional season statistically, averaging 14.4 points and shooting 51 percent from the field. He has also been a member of the Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat during his career.
Portland enters this season in quest of its 27th consecutive playoff appearance since winning the title in 1977. Seattle is attempting for its 21st playoff appearance.
Tickets for the game are $28 for lower level seats, and $18 for the upper balcony.
