WSU Announces 2002-03 Schedule
Sept. 5, 2002
PULLMAN, Wash. -- Washington State Men's Basketball Head Coach Paul Graham announced the Cougars 2002-03 schedule, Tuesday.
Of WSU's 27 games, 17 will be played against teams that advanced to postseason (14 NCAA, 3 NIT).
'I'm very excited about our schedule,' Graham said. 'It is a tough schedule for a team that is still relatively young. We have new faces and this schedule will be a good test for them as well as our veterans. We are playing team from the WAC, Mountain West and Conference USA. Those are all good basketball conferences and provide us good competition prior to Pac-10 play.'
The Cougars open the season Nov. 23 against San Jose State. The game time will be set once kickoff for the Apple Cup is determined.
Including two exhibition contests, the Cougars will play 17 home games. Included in the home dates is a Dec. 21 contest against High Point at the Spokane Arena.
Other nonconference home games include Southern Utah (Nov. 25), Gonzaga (Dec. 7), Montana (Dec. 10) and Fresno State (Dec. 23).
The road portion of the nonconference schedule consists of games at Texas Christian (Nov. 30), Idaho (Dec. 4) and Colorado State (Dec. 14).

The champion of the conference tournament will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
