Women's Doubles Team Ranked 11th In Preseason Tennis Poll

SKILLMAN, N.J. - The Washington women's tennis doubles team of junior Claire Carter and senior Darija Klaic was ranked No. 11 in the preseason edition of the Omni Hotels Collegiate Tennis Rankings, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced Monday.
Last year, the duo garnered All-America accolades advancing to the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Doubles Championships at Stanford University. Carter and Klaic became the first doubles team in Husky history to reach the NCAA quarterfinals, before falling in three sets to the tournament's top-seeded team, Lauren Kalvaria and Gabriela Lastra of Stanford.
Carter (Nottingham, England) and Klaic (Zupanja, Croatia) also appeared in the preseason singles rankings, with Klaic at No. 37 and Carter at No. 58. Carter earned singles All-America honors as a freshman in 2000-01, advancing to the Round of 16.
The 2002-03 season gets underway for the Huskies with the All-American Championships held Saturday, Oct. 5, through Sunday, Oct. 13, in Los Angeles, Calif.
