Johnson Named U.S. Assistant Coach for 2003 Pan-Am Games

BERKELEY - California assistant coach Robyne Johnson was named a United States assistant coach for the 2003 Pan American Games Aug. 3-10, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Johnson, one of four individuals selected to head coach Monica Gary's staff, will coach the power events.

In 1998, Johnson served as an assistant coach on the U.S. women's World Cup team that won the team championship for the first time ever. She is a member of the USA Track and Field Coaches Association and assists the USATF national coordinator for the women's triple jump.

Johnson is in her ninth year with the Golden Bears and is in charge of jumps and women's sprints. She is a Berkeley native and was a five-time All-American at the University of Texas.
