No. 4 Cardinal Sweeps No. 14 Pepperdine 3-0

Stanford, Calif. - Senior outside hitter Logan Tom notched a season and match-high 21 kills as the No. 4 Stanford women's volleyball team swept No. 14 Pepperdine tonight at Maples Pavilion in Stanford, Calif. Game scores were 30-26, 30-27, 30-28.
The Cardinal improves to 10-1 on the year while the Waves fall to 7-5.
Pepperdine staked a 7-3 lead to open game one but the Cardinal slowly chipped away at the lead evening the score at 10 all on a Waves hitting error. With the game tied 15-15, Stanford went on a six point run to go up 21-15. An Ashley Ivy kill put the Cardinal up 26-22 while a Logan Tom kill got Stanford to game point at 29-25. Another Tom kill gave the Cardinal the 30-26 win.
Game two remained close with Stanford taking the early 13-8 lead on back-to-back blocks. Pepperdine chipped away at the lead, closing the gap to 14-16 on a Katie Wilkins kill. The Waves called their second timeout of the game trailing 21-24 after a kill by Jennifer Harvey. A Tom kill again gave Stanford game point at 29-26 while a block by Harvey and Anna Robinson notched the 30-27 win.
Pepperdine called a timeout at 9-5 in game three after a Sara Mcgee kill. Stanford would push the lead to 15-7 on a Tom kill but the Waves fought back, scoring four consecutive points to pull with four at 11-15. Pepperdine would pull within one at 15-16 but the Cardinal maintained the lead, forcing a Waves timeout at 23-18. Pepperdine kept pressing again pulling within one point at 25-26 causing a Stanford timeout. with the game tied at 28-all, an Ogonna Nnamani kill and a Cardinal block would give Stanford the game and match, 30-28.
The Cardinal hit .344 for the match while the Waves were held to a .197 hitting percentage. Stanford outblocked their opponent, 15.5 to seven on the night.
Sophomore Ogonna Nnamani hit.480 on the night with 15 kills and three blocks while teammate Anna Robinson chipped in 43 assists, seven digs and four blocks. Senior opposite Ashley Ivy added 10 kills, seven digs, two service aces and three blocks. Junior middle blocker Jennifer Harvey had a match-high seven blocks on the evening.
Pepperdine was led by Brie Harris' 13 kills and Christina Hinds' 14 digs.
Stanford is next in action against Oregon State on September 27 in Corvallis, Oregon.
