Cal Finishes Day One of Pacific Invitational Tied for 11th

California finishes day one of the Pacific Invitational Golf Tournament tied for 11th place with host Pacific and UC Davis. The Golden Bears shot twin rounds of 288 (even) at the par-72 Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton, CA. UCLA compiled rounds of 280 and 277 (-19) to complete the first two rounds in first place in the 14-team tournament.

Junior Peter Tomasulo led the way for the Bears firing rounds of 71 and 68 (-5), tied for eighth place heading into tomorrow's round. Jeff Hood (71+74=145) and J.R. Ruda (73+72=145) are tied for 37th place and Chris Ancheta (73+74=147) is tied for 49th place. Rounding out the squad for Cal is 2002 Mid Pines Intercollegiate medallist, Michael Wilson (73+75=148), tied for 54th place.

Chris Gilley of Long Beach presently holds the first place spot, unleashing rounds dual rounds of 68 (136).

The final round is tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 24th.
