Golfers Take Six-Stroke Lead into Final Round at Pacific Invitational

The UCLA men's golf team will begin the final round of the Pacific Invitational Tuesday with a six-stroke lead at Spanos Park in Stockton, CA.
The Bruins posted rounds of 280 in the morning and 277 in the afternoon for a total of 557, 19-under par through 36 holes. Coastal Carolina is second at 563, followed by UC Irvine at 568 and San Jose State is fourth at 569. Oregon State and UC Riverside are tied for fifth at 570.
UCLA freshman Spencer Levin, the No.2 ranked junior player in the nation, posted rounds of 69-70-139, five-under par, and was tied for eighth place with junior Travis Johnson, who carded scores of 71-68. Junior John Merrick was tied for 14th place at 140 after posting a second round score of 67. Junior Steve Conway was at one-under par 143, tied for 22nd, and junior Roy Moon was at two-over par 146, tied for 44th.
Long Beach State's Chris Gilley was the 36-hole leader at eight-under par 136 after posting a pair of 68s, followed by Coastal Carolina's Alvero Velasco and Nevada's Ian Hagen, who were tied for second place at seven-under par 137.
