Sept. 24, 2002
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - -
Oregon State junior forward Alan Gordon has been named the Pacific-10 Conference men's soccer Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 17-23, conference commissioner Tom Hansen announced Tuesday.
Gordon, a transfer from Yavapai Junior College in Arizona, posted three goals and an assist in two games over the weekend.
In a 6-2 win at Marist on Friday, Gordon tallied two goals and an assist. He followed that with the game-winning goal in a 1-0 shutout of Siena on Sunday to help the Beavers to a 6-1-0 start.
For the season, Gordon has racked up 13 points on six goals and an assist to help OSU to its best start since 1994, when it went 7-0-1.
Gordon is OSU's second consecutive Pac-10 Player of the Week; goalkeeper Peter Billmeyer earned the honor with two shutouts the previous weekend.
It is the fourth all-time Player of the Week honor for Oregon State; Matt Olsen and Aaron McHardy were chosen in 2000 and 2001, respectively.
