Three Pac-10 teams - top-ranked STANFORD (7-0-0 overall), OREGON STATE (6-1-0) and CALIFORNIA (4-2-1) - will attempt to add to their winning streaks this week... The Cardinal have reeled off seven straight wins, the Beavers have won four straight and the Bears are riding a three-game winning streak... With six wins in seven matches, OSU is off to its best start in program history and has posted four shutouts... Five of Stanford's seven wins have been shutouts... No. 15/No. 9 Connecticut and NR/No. 11 Portland are among the teams competing in the Nike/Husky Classic at WASHINGTON (2-2-2) this weekend... The Huskies will take on UConn and Marquette... California visits nearby Stanford, where it will face NR/No. 22 Santa Clara and Tulsa... FRESNO STATE (2-3-2) returns home to host Cal State Fullerton Thursday night... GORDON NAMED PAC-10 PLAYER OF WEEK
OREGON STATE junior forward Alan Gordon has been named the Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week for Sept. 17-23.
Gordon, from Gilbert, Ariz., tallied three goals and one assist on the weekend as the Beavers (6-1-0 overall, 0-0-0 Pac-10) won a pair of non-conference road matches. In the 6-2 win at Marist College, Gordon notched two goals and assisted on another. He notched the game-winning goal in the 1-0 shutout win at Siena College. Gordon has 13 points on the season (6 goals, 1 assist).
Oregon State is off to its best start since 1994 and has registered four shutouts in seven games, two more than its total from the 2001 season.
This is the first weekly honor for Gordon and the fourth all-time Player of the Week honor for Oregon State.

CALIFORNIA: The Golden Bears collected their third straight victory Sept. 22 against San Francisco, blanking the Dons 2-0. Sophomore midfielder Mike Munoz finished with three points on the day, scoring his third goal of the season and assisting on Cal's first goal. The Bears compete in the Stanford/Nike Invitational this weekend.
FRESNO STATE: Sophomore midfielder Dan Oka posted the game-winner against Louisville and was named the Offensive MVP of the ProRehab Aces Soccer Classic in Evansville, Ind. The Bulldogs claimed the tournament title, finishing 1-0-1 in the tournament along with No. 4 South Carolina, however, they scored three goals to the Gamecocks' two.
OREGON STATE: Junior forward Alan Gordon tallied three goals and one assist (7 points) on the weekend, as the Beavers won a pair of non-conference road matches. In the 6-2 win at Marist College, he notched two goals and one assist. He scored the game-winner at Siena in OSU's 1-0 shutout victory.
STANFORD:The top-ranked Cardinal remain a perfect 7-0-0, including five shutout victories. Senior forward Roger Levesque was named Offensive MVP of the Dartmouth Invitational, with two goals and three assists in the two-day event. The Cardinal's six goals against Richmond Sept. 21 were the most since a 6-0 win over Illinois-Chicago during the 2000 season.
UCLA: The Bruins suffered their first loss of the season, falling to then-No. 17 Loyola Marymount 2-0. Junior Zach Wells made a career-high seven saves against the Lions. UCLA hosts San Diego Sept. 29 at Frank W. Marshall Field.
WASHINGTON: UW fell to then-No. 18 Creighton 2-1 in double overtime on Sept. 19. The Bluejays scored with slightly more than one minute left in the second overtime period. Creighton had not allowed a goal in its two previous matches, before senior forward Dan Oyetuga scored in the 15th minute. UW hosts the Nike Husky Classic Sept. 27 and 29.
