Husky Golfers Finish Second at McGuire Invitational

Albuquerque, NM - Washington women's golf team opened its 2002-03 season by tying for second at New Mexico's Comcast-Dick McGuire Invitational. The Huskies shot 301 during the final round to turn in a 54-hole score of 898. Pepperdine also shot 898 to finish at 22-over. New Mexico won the event with a 15-over score of 891.
The Huskies were led by sophomore Paige Mackenzie, who carded an even-par 73 on Saturday to tie for third overall at 1-under 218. Pepperdine's Katherine Hull and Oklahoma's Lisa Meldrum tied for medalist honors at 8-under 211.
Washington's Lindsay Morgan placed seventh at 3-over 22 and Louise Friberg tied for eighth at 4-over 223. Sung Ea Lee shot 77 during the final round to move up to 39th oveall at 235. Michelle Grafos was 90th at 250.
Mackenzie's finish was her best tournament showing during her career. Her 1-under finish was also her best tournament score against par.
