    Notes on ASU Volleyball:
    Arizona State moved to 6-2 overall on the season and 2-1 in Pac-10 play bydefeating rival #12 Arizona 3-0 in its only action of the week... the winover the Wildcats improved ASU to 3-1 against ranked opponents this year,with all three wins coming against teams in the top 15... ASU snapped afive-match losing streak to the Wildcats and had not won at home since the1996 season... the last time ASU defeated Arizona and UCLA in the same seasonwas in 1996... the Sun Devils swept Arizona for the first time since Sept.30, 1994... the victory also reached a milestone for the program celebratingits 30th anniversary, nothing its 500th career victory... ASU is now 500-348all-time... the 42-40 win in game three of the Arizona match is a Pac-10record for the longest game and with 105 combined points in the threegames, ASU set an NCAA record for three-game matches... junior outside hitterJuliana Escobar continued to dominate on the court, notching her sixthdouble-double of the year... Escobar has led the Devils in kills in seven ofeight matches, service aces in all eight and digs three times... in all sixof her double-double matches, Escobar has recorded 20 or more kills and forthe season is averaging 4.66 kpg... senior middle blocker Julia Leddy movedahead of junior Jodi Smith for the team lead in hitting percentage and isnow at a .351 mark for the season and now owns a .334 career hittingpercentage... Smith recorded her third straight match with 12 kills in thewin over Arizona... redshirt sophomore Natalie Harris recorded her firstdouble-digit dig match of the year with 10 vs. the Wildcats, her seventhcareer match with 10 or more digs... junior setter Cheryl Anglin has led ASUin assists in seven of the eight matches and is now within 35 of secondplace in the ASU career record books with 2,841 in her career... juniorlibero Courtney Blocher is averaging 3.09 digs per game this year and hasled ASU in digs in four of the eight matches... Patti Snyder-Park, who is inher 14th and final season as ASU's head coach, now owns a career 207-171record... the Sun Devils have faced a ranked opponent in three straightmatches, going 2-1 during that stretch, and will face a ranked opponent(Washington State and Stanford) in two of the next three matches... after oneof the biggest crowds in recent history for ASU volleyball (3,243 vs.Arizona), ASU remains ranked in the top 20 nationally in attendance,averaging 1,765 per game in its three home matches (5,296 overall)... ranked28th in last week's AVCA/USA Today national poll, ASU is expected to beranked for the first time since the end of the 1995 season.

    Pac-10 Player of the Week Nomination:

    Juliana Escobar (OH, Jr., Sobradinho DF, Brazil):Junior outside hitter Juliana Escobar helped carry the Sun Devils to theirfirst victory over rival Arizona since 1999 and its first sweep of theWildcats since 1994... Escobar recorded 20 kills and 16 digs, both matchhighs, while also leading ASU with three service aces.... Escobar now has sixdouble-doubles on the year, recording 20 kills in each of those matches...with 27 service aces, Escobar is now just one off of the entire seasontotal from last year's team leader (Jami Coughlin, 28)... for the seasonEscobar is averaging 4.66 kpg, 3.12 dpg and 0.84 aces per game... Escobar hasbeen nominated for Pac-10 Player of the Week three times this year... she wasthe 2001 AVCA/NJCAA Player of the Year at Barton County CC.
