Three Ducks Head to Icy Hot/ITA All-American Championships

Oct. 3, 2002

EUGENE, Ore. - Three Ducks will take the courts at the Icy Hot/ITA All-American Championships in Chattanooga, Tenn. No. 63-ranked Manuel Kost will participate in qualifying singles action, while Oded Teig and Sven Swinnen will compete in pre-qualifying doubles and singles action.

'This is one of three Grand Slams of college tennis,' head coach Chris Russell said. 'If we reach the final stages of this tournament, which I think we have the guys that can do that, it really would represent what we're trying to do with our program.'

Teig and Swinnen will begin their singles competition Friday, while Kost will wait until Tuesday to hit the court. Teig will play Baylor's Benedikt Dorsch Friday afternoon, with the winner of the match playing later in the day. Swinnen takes on Scott Green of Ohio State Friday morning, with the winner of that match also playing later in the same day.

The pre-qualifying doubles draw, as well as the remaining singles draws, have not been set yet.
