Cougar Men's Golf Heads Into Wolf Pack Country

What's Happening This Week: WSU men's golf competes in the 26th Annual Wolf Pack Classic Oct. 7-8 at the Par 72, 7,359 yard Genoa Lakes Golf Course at Reno, Nev....The Wolf Pack Classic is a 54-hole tournament, with 36 holes Monday, and the final 18 Tuesday...In 1993, PGA Tour Pro Peter Jacobsen and course architect John Harbottle III designed the 18 links-style holes.
Field: The 15-team field will consist of Nevada, San Diego State, UTEP, San Jose State, Denver, Wyoming, Hawaii, New Mexico State, Lamar, Louisiana-Monroe, Washington State, Wichita State, Boise State, Portland, and San Francisco.
Last Week at the Vandal Classic: Dustin White used two rounds of 69 to secure a fifth place finish at the 2002 Vandal Classic at the Par 71, 6,663 yard University of Idaho Golf Course...With his stellar play in the final round, White recorded his 14th career Top 10 finish and tied Jon Reehoorn at first place on the all time WSU list... As a whole, the Cougar's placed five golfers in the Top 25 for the first time since April 7, 2000 at the Inland Collegiate Challenge at Spokane... With his 11th place finish, Junior Isaac Woods gathered his 14th career Top 25 finish, and moved into a fourth place tie with Jeremy Taylor...Ryan Camp continued his consistent play by carding a 73 on the final day, and finishing in ninth place...Transfer Ben Bryson and newcomer Chad Carlson each earned Top 25 finishes by ending the day in a tie for 17th, and rounding out the Cougar contingent.
WSU Men at the Wolf Pack Classic: WSU finished the 2001 Wolf Pack Classic in third place...White fired a final round 69 to close the tournament in a tie for sixth at 211 (-5)...Ryan Camp secured a top 10 finish as he completed the event in a tie for eighth at 212 (-4)...Isaac Woods posted his first top 10 effort last fall as he ended the tournament in a tie for 10th with a score of 214 (-2)...
Marking the Scorecard: WSU ranks 81st as a team according to the first Golfweek/Sagarin performance index of the fall ...WSU's schedule ranks 20th, second highest in the Pac-10 behind Arizona State (1st)...WSU ranks 44th in the GCAA (Golf Coaches Association of America) Precept Coaches Division I Top 25 Poll.
White Hot: Dustin White ranks 130th in the nation according to the Golfweek/Sagarin performance index...White has been selected as one of the Top 50 male players to watch during the 2002-03 season by GolfWorld magazine in its Sept. 6 issue...White has finished in the Top 10 in each of his last two tournaments.
