Men's Tennis Complete Day Two of ITA All-American and the Northern Arizona Invitational

TUCSON, Ariz.-Arizona men's tennis finished day two of the ITA All-American in Chattanooga, Tenn., and the Northern Arizona Invitational in Sedona, Ariz., with five victories in singles and two in doubles play.
ITA All-American: Competing in round two of the pre-qualifying rounds, sophomore Paul Warkentin beat David O'Conner in straight sets 6-3, 6-2. After beating O'Conner, Warkentin lost to Sven Swinnen in the third round 6-4, 6-3. This will complete the pre-qualifying rounds for the Wildcats. Junior Whi Kim is slotted to compete on Tuesday Oct. 8, in the qualifying rounds.
Northern Arizona Invitational: Day two saw a busy day for the Wildcats. In second round action freshman Tim Mullane beat Fredrick Jeppson of Northern Arizona 6-4, 6-3. During round three, Mullane fell to Ryan McBride of Arizona State 7-5, 4-6, 6-4. Also junior Carl Hagman defeated Danilo Zivanovic of New Mexico State 6-2, 7-5. In the quarterfinal round of the second draw matches sophomore Colin O'Grady beat Jeremy Coll of Northern Arizona 2-6, 6-2, 6-1. With that victory, O'Grady faced and defeated Jasmin Hodzic of New Mexico in the semifinal round 6-4, 6-2.In doubles action the combination of Carl Hagman and Colin O'Grady defeated Luis Avila and Dan Even of New Mexico State, 8-5. Also competing Tim Mullane and NMSU's Danilo Zivanovic beat the team of Olivier Charrion and Ryan McBride of Arizona State 8-6. With these two victories, the final round will show case the two Arizona doubles teams.
The Wildcats will be in action again tomorrow at the Northern Arizona Invitational, where Carl Hagman looks to win both the singles and doubles championships.
