Husky Men's Golfers in Seventh at Fall Preview

Stillwater, OK - The Washington men's golf team is tied for seventh after the first two rounds of play at the Ping/Golfweek Preview at the Karsten Creek Golf Club. The Huskies shot 304 during their first round and followed that up with a 296 during the afternoon session for a 36-hole total of 600. Washington stands nine strokes behind August State, which leads the 15-team field at 591. Clemson is second at 592.
Washington was led by senior Conner Robbins, who turned in back-to-back rounds of 1-over 73 to tie for ninth at 146. Augusta State's Emmett Turner and Scott Jamieson share the lead at 1-under 143. Auburn's Jay Mundy is third at even par 144.
The opening round of play proved to be tough on the field. No team shot better than 11-over, led by Clemson at 299. The afternoon round was a different story as 11 teams carded rounds of 8-over or better.
Washington's John Robertson is tied for 18th at 5-over 149 while Husky All-American Brock Mackenzie is 41st at 10-over 154 after opening play with an 81. Derek Berg also shot 154 for Washington. Dan Potter rounded out the Huskies' scoring at 162.
The final round of the tournament will be held Tuesday.
