Zach Wells Named Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player Of The Week

Walnut Creek, CA - UCLA junior goalkeeper Zach Wells (Costa Mesa, CA/Newport Harbor HS) has been named the Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week for Oct. 1-7.

Wells withstood 17 shots and made four saves to lead the Bruins to a 0-0 double-overtime tie of No. 1-ranked St. John's Oct. 6. The shutout was the first by a St. John's opponent this season. In a 1-1 double-overtime tie at No. 13 Rutgers, Wells stopped a season-high eight shots. On the weekend, he posted a 0.41 goals against average, dropping his overall GAA to 0.73.

The Bruins (5-1-2 overall, 0-0-0 Pac-10), ranked sixth by Soccer America and 16th by the NSCAA, hosts Fresno State Sunday in the Pac-10 opener for both teams.

This is the second weekly honor for Wells in his career and the 11th all-time Player of the Week honor for UCLA.
