Cal Finishes Fourth at Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational

TACOMA, Wash. - The California women's golf team placed fourth at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational with a 54-hole score of 903 Wednesday at the Tacoma Golf and Country Club. USC led wire-to-wire and won the 11-team tournament with an 885, 15 strokes ahead of host Washington (900) and 16 strokes ahead of Pepperdine (901).
Today's Cal finish comes on the heels of the Bears' victory at the Oregon State Invitational, Sept. 16-17. In the last two seasons, Cal has recorded 10 Top 5 tournament finishes.
The Trojans' Mikaela Parmlid won a playoff today with Pepperdine's Lindsey Wright to claim top individual honors with a 5-under 214. Parmlid fired the low round of the day of 68. Pepperdine's Katherine Hull and USC's Becky Lucidi, who led after the first two rounds, finished one stroke back at 215.
Senior Vikki Laing and freshman Mika Takayama paced the Golden Bears, tying for seventh at 3-over 222. Laing and junior Clare Dury shot Cal's low round Wednesday with 74s. Junior Sarah Huarte also posted a top 25 showing, tying for 22nd with a 230.
Cal next competes at the Stanford-Pepsi Intercollegiate, Oct. 18-20.
