Arizona Women's Tennis Eliminated from Riviera All-American

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Arizona women's tennis team finished play Thursday at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif. The Wildcats were eliminated from the tournament after Maja Mlakar and Debbie Larocque fell in the first round of main-draw singles and doubles play.
In pre-qualifying play on Sunday, sophomore Marie-Pier Pouliot was eliminated from the singles bracket, and Arizona's duo of Pouliot and Dianne Hollands also fell in the first round. In the qualifying rounds on Tuesday, Larocque and Hollands both lost their first-round singles matches and were eliminated. Mlakar's main-draw singles loss, and Mlakar and Larocque's main-draw doubles loss Thursday eliminated the team from the tournement.
Mlakar fell to Tulsa's Alicia Pillay, 6-4, 5-7, 6-2, in the first round of main-draw singles action.
Mlakar teamed up with Larocque in main-draw doubles action, and the No. 4-seeded duo fell to Linda Faltykova and Katia Koloynska of OK St., 8-4.
The Cats will take a week off before heading to the Region XIII Championships in San Diego, Calif., on Oct. 24-28.
