Bruins Third after First Round at MacKenzie Invitational

The UCLA men's golf team is in third place after the first round of the Alister MacKenzie Invitational, hosted by California at the Meadow Club in Fairfax, CA.
The Bruins posted a team score of 274, 10-under par, and trail first place UC Irvine by two shots. San Francisco is second at 273. Fresno State is fourth at 275, followed by Cal at 276. Eight teams are within 10 shots of the lead entering Monday afternoon's second round.
Junior Steve Conway posted a five-under par score of 66 and is tied for fourth place. Freshman Spencer Levin and junior Roy Moon are tied for 10th after first round 68s. Junior Travis Johnson is tied for 37th after a first round 72, and junior John Merrick is tied for 49th at 74.
UC Irvine's Mike Lavery posted a first round score of seven-under par 64 and leads Oregon's John Ellis and San Francisco's Robert Frye by one shot.
Although the second round is underway, it is not expected to be finished by nightfall. Should round two be postponed because of darkness, it will be completed Tuesday with the final round immediately following.
