Oct. 14, 2002
TUCSON, Ariz.- Arizona's Kim Glass has been named the Pac-10 Volleyball Player of the Week for Oct. 7-13, commissioner Tom Hansen announced on Monday.
A freshman outside hitter, Glass tallied 53 kills in Arizona's two matches over the weekend. In UA's thrilling come-from-behind victory over fourth-ranked Stanford, she led all players with 28 kills and also added seven digs and three total blocks. A night later, against California, she was Arizona's lone offensive threat in the 3-0 loss to the Golden Bears. Glass recorded a team-high 25 kills on 51 attempts with only six errors, for a team-leading .373 hitting percentage. Her 25-kill performance was an Arizona school record for a three-game match.
This is the second weekly honor for Glass in her brief Arizona career and it is the 18th Player of the Week honor all-time for UA.
The Wildcats return to play this Thursday, Oct. 17, in Eugene, Ore., against Oregon. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
