Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- STANFORD sophomore Nicole Barnhart has been named Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week for Oct. 7-14, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Barnhart, from Gilbertsville, Pa., recorded 12 saves in two matches to help the No. 2 Cardinal notch shutout wins at No. 15 USC and No. 12 UCLA. Against the Trojans on Oct. 11, Barnhart posted six saves in the 2-0 win. At UCLA on Oct. 13, she recorded another six saves as Stanford prevailed 1-0. It marked just the second time this season the Bruins have been held scoreless, and first time since Sept. 8. The victories marked Barnhart's seventh and eighth shutouts on the year. In 12 games this season, Barnhart has collected 31 saves while allowing just three goals.
The No. 1-ranked Cardinal (11-1-0 overall, 2-0-0 Pac-10) host the Oregon schools this week.
This is the first Pac-10 Player of the Week honor for Barnhart and Stanford's 12th such honor all-time.
