2002-03 Men's Basketball Television Schedule Announced

TUCSON, Ariz. - Top-notch exposure comes with the nation's top ranking as every regular-season University of Arizona men's basketball game is scheduled to be televised live in 2002-03.
For more than 30 years Wildcat basketball has been regularly featured on television, and 2002-03 is no different as all 27 regular-season games are scheduled to be televised. The schedule features 14 national appearances with seven games offered on Fox Sports Net, three on CBS-TV, two on ESPN/ESPN2 and two on ABC-TV.
Additionally, Fox Sports Net Arizona will produce 15 games to be shown in the Arizona market, including the two exhibition games. Two of those games will be shown on Tucson's KWBA-TV 58.
The 2002-03 broadcast schedule tips-off with five local broadcasts, beginning with the EA Sports All-Stars (Nov. 12) and Team Nike (Nov. 20) exhibition games. The Cats open the regular season in McKale Center Nov. 23 against Western Kentucky on KWBA-TV and a pair of games, Northern Arizona (Nov. 27) and Saint Louis (Dec. 3) can be seen on Fox Sports Net Arizona.
Arizona's first national appearance of the season comes Dec. 7, as the team travels to San Diego, Calif., to take on San Diego State on ESPN. It is the first of two appearances on the ESPN family. UA's second appearance comes Dec. 21 at Louisiana State on ESPN2.
Fox Sports Net's first telecast takes place on Sunday, Dec. 15, when the Wildcats host the University of Texas. FSN also will televise six of Arizona's Pacific-10 Conference games, including road games at USC (Jan. 16), Washington (Feb. 6) and California (Feb. 27).
Arizona's first of two appearances on ABC-TV is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 18, with a key Pac-10 road game at UCLA. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. PST in Los Angeles. UA's other ABC appearance comes March 1 at Stanford.
UA's road tilt on Saturday, Jan. 25, at Kansas marks the first of three CBS-TV broadcasts, beginning at Noon CST. Other Wildcat appearances on CBS include Feb. 15 vs. USC (11 a.m. MST) and March 8 in the regular season finale vs. Oregon (2 p.m. MST).
For the second consecutive season, the Pac-10 Conference Tournament returns to the schedule. The top eight teams in the league's regular-season standings will advance to the Staples Center in Los Angeles March 13-15. Quarterfinal and semifinal action will be shown live by Fox Sports Net, while the championship game will be televised by CBS-TV on Saturday, March 15 at 3 p.m. PST.
One game remains tentative at this point. A start time and television carrier for Arizona's game at Oregon on Thursday, Jan. 2, has yet to be determined. Information will be released as soon as it is available.
